תקציר

The single electron reduction of the complex [P₈W ₄₈O₁₈₄Fe₁₆(OH)₂₈(H ₂O)₄]^20- by the hydrated electron yields the mixed-valence complex [P₈W₄₈O₁₈₄Fe ^IIFe^III₁₅(OH)₂₈-(H ₂O)₄]^21- which has an intervalence charge transfer band in the near I.R. This result points out that there is a strong interaction between the iron centres. The formation of [P₈W ₄₈O₁₈₄Fe^IIFe^III₁₅-(OH) ₂₈(H₂O)₄]^21- is followed by the loss of the Fe^II centre and the rearrangement of the remaining Fe ₁₅^III cluster.
