תקציר

The chapter presents a new approach to motivation for creativity based on the cognitive orientation theory. The major theoretical constructs of this approach are motivational disposition, themes, four belief types, and behavioral program. The basic tool for assessment of motivation for creativity - the cognitive orientation questionnaire of creativity (COQ-CR) - is described as well as several studies carried out about the motivation of creativity of design students in architecture and engineering. The COQ-CR provides information not only about the level of motivation but also about the structural and thematic composition of motivation for creativity. It thus enables to characterize differences in motivation in different individuals and domains of creativity. Implications for design education include the need and possibility of embedding motivation for creativity training in the regular teaching and practice of design.
