Measuring body temperature

Knowledge of body temperature is required for a wide range of physiological and clinical studies. However, body temperature is not uniform throughout, neither in distribution within the body nor over time, and decisions must be made as to where to measure temperature, and by what means. The choice of an appropriate temperature measurement site and method requires some knowledge of how the human body responds to environmental factors and is described below.
