תקציר
The specific rates of reaction of the hydrated electron with complexes of glycine, ethylenediamine and nitrilotriacetic acid with different cations have been determined. The effect of the degree of complexation has been studied in detail. The removal of the last water molecule from the inner sphere significantly decreases the specific rate of reaction. An analysis of the results proves that the observed specific rate constants are in disagreement with those predicted by the Marcus theory for hydrated electron reactions. Alternative mechanisms for the reaction of the hydrated electron with inorganic complexes are discussed.
