Determination of transient currents in power networks with tensions over 1000 V

An algorithm has been developed and analytical expressions brought forward to help in the assessment of the values and nature of transient currents in high voltage networks using the registrogram of short circuit currents in the secondary circuit of current transformers. The indirect method introduced here ensures mininal errors (not exceeding 10%) in the determination of the primary current quantities. Cases of transformers with linear magnetisation curves and those with non-linear magnetisation curves have been considered.
