תקציר
Frontal lobe abscess as a complication of maxillary sinusitis is extremely rare and only a few reports were published in the pre antibiotic era. The neurological manifestations are usually vague and of late onset. Since conscious or slightly lethargic patients have a much better chance of surviving surgery, a delay in diagnosis is dangerous. Thus, Carey et al. found a mortality of 60% when the patient was in coma, about 55% if the patient responded to pain and 32% in lethargic cases. The best surgical results were obtained in alert patients. A case in which a brain abscess was radically removed is presented.
