A patient with seizures and a positive drug screen: Three wrongs don't make a right

A wrong result in a nonspecific toxic screen led to the identification of the wrong toxidrom, which in term led to the wrong diagnosis and management. The nonspecific nature of toxic screens should be kept in mind, and the potential cross-sensitivity of immunoassays should be carefully checked and ruled out by more specific tests.
