Vertebral bone

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

This chapter reviews the multiscale structure of the vertebral bone, featuring nested hierarchical microstructures at various length scales. It also describes the mechanical behavior of the vertebral bone, the various methods used to predict its mechanical properties, and experimental measurements, including density and microarchitecture. The final section reviews multiscale computational models used in biomechanical simulations of the vertebral bones and their performance.
