N2 - Hydroperoxyl radicals oxidize NiL2+ in solutions containing SO42- and H2PO4- to (LNiIII(SO4)2) and (LNiIII(H2PO4)2) +. The mechanism of these processes involves mainly the following reactions: NiL2+ + HO2•⇆L(H2O)NiIII(HO 2-)2+ L(H2O)NiIII(HO2-)2+ + X- ⇆ LNiIII(X-)(HO2-) + LNiIII(X-)(HO2-)+ + X- + H3O+ → LNiIII(X-)2+ + H2O2 This mechanism differs from that observed for the analogous oxidation of Ni(5,7,7,12,14,14-hexamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane)2,4. The difference in the mechanisms stems from the difference in the redox potentials of the complexes.
