Abstract
Fifteen years of fieldwork at Tel Burna have shown that the Late Bronze Age IIB (thirteenth century BCE) was the most significant period of occupation at the site. Architecture from this period has been revealed in three excavation areas on the western side of the tell. In addition, large quantities of Late Bronze Age pottery have been found in Iron Age layers along the western, eastern, and southern slopes, as well as on the summit. This paper presents findings from the most recent seasons' excavations and their contribution to our understanding of the size, nature, and dating of the Late Bronze Age II town at Tel Burna. These data shed light on the town's administrative and political importance within the regional hierarchical settlement system.
