Superluminal Brillouin amplification for sub-cycle interactions of modulated light

Abstract

Superluminal Brillouin amplification is predicted and demonstrated for modulated pump and Stokes waves, for interaction lengths less than half the modulation wavelength. The group velocity increases by a factor ≈G , the Brillouin exponential gain parameter.
