A phenomenological analysis of evolution of the liquid metal in weld metal pool is presented. It is based on model of interaction of the metallic and slag melts and on the modernized Schaeffler structure diagram. A true empirical diagram is plotted that enables to determine a structure and phase composition of seam in initial state and after fusion welding. The evolution model proposed takes into account the factors of nonequilibrium crystallization of metal with any level of alloying. An amount of each formed phase can be computed independent of concentration of the alloying components.
