Abstract

The manuscript presents a method of operating renewable energy generators (REG) by a new method of robust maximum power point tracking (MPPT). The method utilizes the sum of REG static and dynamic conductances as the main MPPT loop regulation variable. Static and dynamic conductances are both operating point and environmental variables dependent. Nevertheless, their sum is always zero when the REG operates at maximum power point (MPP). Consequently, driving the sum to zero assures MPPT for any environmental conditions set. The nonlinear dependence of the MPPT loop regulation variable on both operating point and environmental conditions is counteracted by a disturbance observer (DOB) thus robustifying the simple integral controller utilised as loop compensator.
