N2 - The resource allocation problem of a satellite communication system is important due to the high cost of frequency bandwidth. In systems using DVB-S2 links the optimization is related to the classical multi-knapsack problem. Performance criteria are defined and two heuristic algorithms are presented and compared using Monte-Carlo simulation.
