Abstract

A coulostatic method was used to study the systematics of the rapid stage of electrochemical oxidation at the metal-slag interface. The kinetic parameters of the reaction were determined taking into account the retarded relaxation of the charge-transfer double-electric layer (DEL). It is shown that with increasing fraction of free oxygen, the capacitances of the DEL and Helmholtz layer decrease in the molten oxide. The systematics obtained are explained by the specific effect of tungsten on the structure of the electrolytic coating of the DEL.
