Abstract

A recent study has demonstrated an inverse correlation between serum valproic acid concentration in adolescents with epilepsy and quality of life, suggesting that cognitive and behavioral effects of anticonvulants may significantly impact the life of patients with epilepsy and that intensive therapeutic drug monitoring may have a role in both reducing seizure frequency and improving health-related quality of life.
