We cannot rule out thepossibility that at very high alkalinity [NiL5(0H)l2+, a six-co-ordinated species, might be formed.IIAcknowledgementsThis work was supported in part by a grant from the U S . -Israel Binational Science Foundation (B.S. N2 - The oxidation of (1,4,7,10,13-penta-azacyclohexadecane)nickel(II) by OH· radicals in aqueous solutions was studied, and the properties of the resulting nickel(III) complex are compared with those of analogous complexes [NiL]3+ where L is a tetra-azacyclotetradecane ligand. The difference in the properties is attributed to the fifth nitrogen donor atom which decreases the acidity of the central tervalent nickel.
