N2 - Francolite, the major commercially imported mineral of Israel phosphates, is characterized by specific photoluminescence and color properties. This allows francolite to be distinguished from accompanying minerals, mainly chert and calcite. Based on optical properties, it is possible to separate francolite-enriched particles from the host rock using radiometric sorting. In the case of the Zin Phosphate Plant coarse reject, it is possible to select an intermediate product with an elevated concentration of francolite and practically free from chert. This material is suitable for subsequent beneficiation with potential rise in the overall concentrate yield.
