Abstract

The authors compare the performance of a number of adaptive channel estimation and detection methods under multipath conditions. The multipath channel is estimated by means of combined estimation/detection schemes using a known transmitted training sequence at the beginning of the data transmission. When the channel estimation is completed the unknown data is decoded. The performance of two, new channel estimation procedures is presented and compared to previously known methods. The performance of four detection methods is presented. The methods are compared and their sensitivity to errors in the channel-estimation procedure is discussed. Finally, the computing complexity of each scheme is presented.
