Measuring Body Temperature

Abstract

Knowledge of body temperature is required for a wide range of physiological and clinical studies. However, body temperature is not uniform throughout, neither in distribution within the body nor over time, and it is imperative to choose an appropriate measurement site and method. To make these decisions, basic knowledge of how the human body responds to environmental factors is required and is described below.
