Mask phenomenon: Postemesis facial purpura

Abstract

A bizarre form of purpura seen on the face and neck after vigorous vomiting is described. Physicians should be familiar with this form of purpura since patients are very concerned about the mask that appears suddenly. Recevery is spontaneous, and no treatment is needed.
