Abstract
It would be an understatement to say the media world changes rapidly and continues to change, even outpacing the speed of technological developments. In this chapter, scholars from China, Israel, Germany, and the United States write about the current state of print sports media. These perspectives provide a cross-section of viewpoints from around the globe, with a common theme of print sports media outlets and their relationship with emerging technologies over the years. Just as when television became more popular, the exponentially rising popularity of the internet has offered more opportunities for readers to find news and viewpoints outside of the print medium. In addition, advertising revenue for print sports media has fallen with the increase in competition. Print media all over the world have adjusted in differing ways. Some have formed alliances with online outlets, while others are exploring the use of non-print platforms such as video to disseminate stories on their own.
