N2 - To the Editor: Gastric polyps are not as frequent as colonic polyps, and their incidence is estimated (in endoscopic studies) to be 0.4 to 0.9 per cent.1,2 Inflammatory polyps are very rare, and their cause is unknown.3 4 5 Among 14,000 gastroscopic studies performed at the Sheba Medical Center in Israel between the years 1975 and 1984, we found 51 inflammatory polyps in 35 patients (35 gastroscopic studies) — an incidence of 0.25 per cent. The diagnosis was based on multiple biopsies and histologic examination. Two groups of polyps were found. In one group (31 polyps in 17 patients) there was.
