PN and PIN photodiodes possess huge, tunable optoelectronic chromatic dispersion, 6-8 orders of magnitude larger than high-dispersion materials such as chalcogenide glass. This forms the basis for a new class of inexpensive, solid-state optoelectronic sensors.
