Abstract

This article introduces an innovative methodology for enhancing bidirectional power flow control within grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV)-fed water pumping systems. The proposed system integrates a brushless DC (BLDC) motor drive, presenting a departure from conventional water pump operations that typically require phase current sensors. This departure contributes to an efficient and reliable power flow control strategy, ensuring optimal utilization of the water pump's capacity even under varying weather conditions. A key feature of the proposed approach is its ability to redirect surplus energy generated by the PV array back into a singular-phase utility grid during non-operational periods. This optimization enhances the overall reliability of the system., ensuring continuous utilization of the water pump at its maximum capacity. The switching scheme adopted for the voltage source inverter (VSI) is PWM_ON_PWM., strategically designed to minimize torque ripples within the BLDC drive. This design choice contributes to the system's stability and performance during operation. Additionally, the implementation of bidirectional power flow control is achieved through a single-phase voltage source converter. This converter employs a unit vector template generation technique to adeptly manage power exchange between the grid and the DC bus of the VSI. This efficient control mechanism further enhances the overall reliability and adaptability of the system. The contributions outlined showcase a novel approach to bidirectional power flow control in solar PV -fed water pumping systems., emphasizing efficiency., reliability., and adaptability in various operational scenarios.
