Abstract

The kinetics of the hydrolysis of [(H20)5CrC(CH3)20H]2+in the pH range 0.0-5.6 are reported. The results indicate that the hydrolysis reaction is faster for [(H20)5-n(0H)nCrC(CH3)20H]2-n. Furthermore, the rate of hydrolysis of [(H20)5CrCR1R2OH]2+is accelerated by acetate anions. The mechanistic implications of these results are discussed in detail.
