Abstract

The H/D isotope effects in the radiolytic formation of hydrogen from water by different radiations (γ rays, tritons and alpha particles) were determined. The isotope effect was found to decrease with increasing LET. The implications of these findings on the mechanisms of the radiolysis of water are discussed.
