Abstract
Our objective in this chapter will be to present the state of relevant research and to stimulate interest in research efforts aimed at developing selective drugs for use in pregnancy. The hope is to explore therapeutic strategies that can either reduce unnecessary fetal exposure to drugs required by the mother or, in some instances, reduce maternal exposure to drugs destined for fetal treatment.
