Abstract

The performance analysis of the Viterbi decoder is important when cochannel and adjacent channel interface (ACI) are present. This study describes a new and relatively simple approach for the performance analysis using a crosstalk approach. Several CPM schemes in an ACI and white Gaussian noise environment are considered. The results obtained are compared to previous work, and many new CPM modulation schemes are also examined. Some of these new schemes give surprisingly good results. Moreover one of the new schemes allows an ACI user to be 62 bD greater than the desired user at a frequency separation equal to 1.5. times the bit rate, with just 2 bD degradation.
