Abstract

Discusses citizen participation in urban renewal projects, illustrated by the case study of a residential quarter in Israel. The community workers adopted and so-called Charette technique for involving residents. The result was an adequately designed community centre, planned by specialists in consultation with the residents. Since its completion, the centre has become the main focus of local community life and has stimulated participation by the quarter's residents in local community life in general. -J.Prushansky
