Brillouin cross-gain modulation and 10-4c slow-light

Abstract

We introduce a new method of achieving cross-gain modulation and slow light using the Brillouin nonlinearity in an optical fiber. We demonstrate approx. 10-4c group velocity using this technique with milliwatts of optical power.
