Abstract
The article delves into the recruitment of Jews from the western regions annexed by the Soviet Union from the outbreak of World War II until the end of 1942. Particular emphasis is placed on unraveling the intricacies of Soviet recruitment policy vis-à-vis “western” Jews and the evolution of this policy, considering internal policies and the needs of the Red Army.
