Abstract
This study focuses on a long line of ways of writing and editing that enabled R. Eliezer of Tuchheim to ultimately reduce the scope of the Tosafot byhalf. The rewriting action was based on repeating the message that appeared in the original Tosafot in a reduced number of words. The study maps the linguistic models which R. Eliezer relied on. In addition, the editorial rules were described, according to which R. Eliezer determined what to omit from the original additions. It should be emphasized that these are omissions for the sake of brevity, and not an act of omission in principle based on legal disagreements.
