Abstract
Facial exercise training is a relatively new method aiming to enhance the look of the face independently and naturally. This research examined (1) facial training’s effect on self-esteem and well-being, and (2) the effect on one's appearance. The study was conducted in Israel through a virtual video platform due to the Covid-19 pandemic. 20 Israeli women volunteered to participate in the research, divided into two conditions: experimental condition (e.g., facial training), and control condition (e.g., yoga training). These conditions included 12 sessions over six weeks for each condition and identical self-reported questionnaires were answered before and after the intervention. The results revealed a significant change in facial appearance following the TOPNESS facial training condition compared to yoga training. The significant facial change was described as elevated, firm, fuller facial appearance, and a more defined neck. A positive non-significant trend was observed for self-esteem in both conditions, along with an increase in well-being in both conditions after the interventions. Further results, explanations, limitations, and ideas for additional research are presented and discussed.
