ملخص

Iron(II) protoporphyrin, Fe^IIPP, is reduced by e_aq^- and CO₂^.- in aqueous solutions to Fe^IPP, which might be present in aqueous solutions as Fe^IIIPP - H. The spectrum of the short-lived intermediate and the kinetics of its decomposition into Fe^IIIPP + H₂ are reported. The free radicals _.CH₂OH, ^.CH(CH₃)OH and ^.C(CH₃)₂OH react with Fe^IIPP forming Fe^IIIPP - CR₁R₂OH; the spectra of these intermediates, which decompose into Fe^IIIPP + HCR₁R₂OH, are reported.
