N2 - The influence of concrete prestressing and gravitational loading on plastic energy dissipation (PED) and ductility of RC elements in seismic zones was investigated. It was shown that concrete modulus of elasticity increases linearly with a compressive strength of concrete. The values of the compression section ductility as a function of the concrete strength were obtained. The theoretical relationship between concrete strengths and the ductility factor of a RC section was also obtained. The ductility factor μ was lower and limited to 3≤μ<6, for the PC unconfined HSC section.
