ملخص
It is very important to identify and precisely quantify disinfection by- products (DBPs) in water to make sure it is safe for drinking and of good quality. During the process of disinfecting water, disinfectants like chlorine combine with the organic and inorganic matter present in the water. Consumers get at the risk for health problems from these DBPs, so it's important to find and measure them correctly. In order to address newly discovered contaminants and fulfil regulatory requirements, efforts are now being made to create and hone methods of detection and testing for DBPs in drinking water. DBPs present in water can be identified and measured using various chemical methods. However, advanced methods are required for precise measurement of DBPs in water. These methods encompass advanced techniques like gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, and spectroscopic methods. Advances in technology have allowed for improved sensitivity, selectivity, and speed of analysis, enabling the identification and quantification of a wide array of DBPs. The present chapter gives an overview of types of disinfectants used for removal of pathogens, their environmental implications due to by-product forma tion, and different techniques of analysis. The findings indicate continuous advance ments in analytical instrumentation, data analysis techniques, and quality assurance protocols that contribute to the comprehensive monitoring and assessment of DBP levels in drinking water.
