It begins by highlighting the differences between the events and, notably, the arguments raised in academia,public discourse, and even political leadership against making the comparison. It then reviews the comparison as unavoidable and explores the reasons behind it. To present the range of arguments fairly, the article also includes the claims made by those in favor of the comparison. Finally, the authors propose practical educational conclusions derived from the discussion and call for the development of a didactic approach that would serve as a continuation – not a contradiction – of the existing Holocaust education curriculum in educational settings in Israel.
